Red Friday participation by owners

About the Owners

  • Jared Watson

Jared got into remodeling in Charleston, SC, doing work on colonial homes. That love of older homes hasn't left him, as he's worked on historic homes in Raleigh, Fuquay-Varina, and Apex.

Jared has worked in warranty for larger builders as well as ran drywall crews in new construction. His love, though, is in remodeling. While working full time for another small local contractor, he went to school at night through the Wake Tech Construction Management program. That is where he found his passion to start his own company.

Jared was raised by a single mother. He saw her struggles with time and budgeting. This is a major reason Big Monkey Renovation offers discounts to our single-parent clients. Being raised in Charleston, Jared lived near the air base and quickly grew his love and appreciation for our military.

In addition to being an owner of Big Monkey Reno, Jared is the father of Chance the dog, who you will likely see anywhere you see Jared. They are inseparable. Jared and his wife, Meredith, live in Fuquay-Varina with Chance and their kitty Mena.

  • Tracy Benton

Tracy got into remodeling when she became the owner of a foreclosure as a single mom to her young son. At the time, she was working a full-time job managing a local Raleigh law firm, while updating the home during her free time.

Tracy went through many contractors before determining she’d be better off learning more about renovations herself. She enrolled at Wake Technical College to study construction management. Tracy knew what she didn't want from a contractor, and when she opened the company she made sure clients would feel comfortable with her crew in their homes. Her crew wouldn't steal food or anything else from the homeowners like others had done to her. Tracy fully trusts the crew in her own home and in the homes of clients.

Tracy’s background as a single mom on a tight budget is a main reason she and Big Monkey Renovation offer discounts to single-parent clients.

In addition to being an owner of Big Monkey Reno and working in the business full time, Tracy is a highly successful real estate agent. She, along with her son, who is now grown and an Air Force veteran, own Community First Realty. She loves helping buyers, sellers, and investors with their property needs, and invests herself, owning rental property in Fuquay-Varina. Tracy has also served on the Town of Fuquay-Varina Planning Board and as town commissioner, as well as on the board of directors of a few local non-profits. She now lives in Lillington with her husband, Jeff, and their two rescue cats, Delta and Kiki.

Red Friday

Jared and Tracy are big supporters of our military and veterans. Our team wears red on Fridays to bring awareness of our members that are currently deployed. This started when Tracy’s son was deployed. Although he is now home and safe, we carry that tradition on.
